Project Courage

Project Courage is a multi-level outpatient program serving adult, pregnant or parenting women from the Greater Bridgeport area. Our compassionate, bilingual, bicultural team provides gender-specific treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders in a supportive, empowering environment.

Program Overview

Project Courage offers two levels of care-day/evening treatment and low-level outpatient-designed to work mutually. These options allow for flexibility and continuity, so each woman can receive the right level of support based on her unique needs and goals.

Removing Barriers to Care

Support Beyond Treatment

Project Courage is designed to remove some of the traditional barriers women face when seeking treatment. We help our clients by providing:

Transportation

We provide transportation to the program for women residing in the city of Bridgeport.

Childcare

We offer drop-in baby-sitting services while clients are in treatment.

Meals

Lunch is provided while clients are in treatment.

Community Support

We encourage participation in self-help recovery group meetings and other community and spiritually based supports.

Comprehensive, Coordinated Care

Psychiatric Services

Project Courage offers basic psychiatric evaluations and follow-up services for the women we serve. We work closely with local faith-based housing programs, the Department of Children and Families, and local criminal justice programs.

Our clinicians are trained in multiple evidence-based approaches to address trauma, recognizing its high prevalence in the lives of individuals with substance use and mental health disorders.
