Treatment Approach

Care that understands the whole person.

CASA's treatment and prevention approach recognizes that recovery is shaped by culture, identity, history, family, community, and the conditions in which people live. We provide culturally responsive care that honors the lived experiences and strengths of LGBTQ+ people and Black and Latino communities.

How We Approach Care

Six commitments guide our work.

We look beyond symptoms to understand each person's experiences, strengths, relationships, and community.

CASA One.png

History and
present-day realities

We consider how slavery, segregation migration, civil rights, discrimination,
and inequity continue to shape healtn and well-being.

CASA Four.png

The pain beneath
substance abuse

We address trauma, shame, isolation, and diminished self-worth that may

contribute to substance abuse and

behavioral health challenges.

CASA Two.png

Identity and
lived experience

We respect how race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity,
marqinalization, and intersectionality can influence each person's path to recovery.

CASA Five.png

Bias-aware,
responsive practice

We challenge stereotypes and apply culturally relevant understandings of pain, illness, wellness, and recovery throughout assessment and care.
